Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky
Here’s a few things I got a little stuck on and had to Google while playing Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky. I hope that aggregating some of that knowledge here will help other gamers who get stuck on the same parts that I did. Please note, this page may contain minor spoilers.
Secret of the Old Map sidequest (Ruan)
The instructions for finding the hidden treasure are fairly unclear — for a start, the location you want is not the screen where you may have met Jimmy originally, before entering town. You want to make your way to the screen just one north of Ruan, and look for a partially hidden path that runs along the ocean. See the image below — the red arrow at the top is where the path begins, follow it south to find your destination at the second mark. Ignore the little red triangle in the middle.
Escort Job sidequest (Ruan)
The sidequest “Escort Job” is posted by Amelia, to escort her uncle along the Krone Trail, but doesn’t actually tell you where Amelia is.
You can find her in Manoria Village, standing outside of the house just next to the northern exit.
Candelabrum Theft sidequest (Ruan)
This is a tricky one! For those who may have gotten stuck on the trail of clues searching for the stolen Sapphire Glim, here’s the solution:
The first clue (“Look to the three-eyed giant which towers over this settlement”) refers to the large statue at the west side of northern Ruan, just south of the hotel. Check the west side of the statue, and you should find the next clue.
The second clue (“Look to the endless waltz which unfolds between the red and black”) is the roulette wheel in the upper floor of the Lavantar Casino & Bar, in north Ruan. Just examine the roulette wheel and you’ll get the third card.
The third clue (“Rest at the land harbor and look to the one-eyed lion”) is even trickier! Head to Ruan Landing Port, cross the bridge north of the receptionist (don’t go up the stairs), head east past the warehouses, and examine the brown vehicle parked by the crates. You may need to rotate your camera to be able to see it.
As Estelle says, the fourth clue (“Beyond the drawbridge, look to the barrel near the Steel Crane”) is suspiciously easy. Remember the loading area in the docks with the large crane in south Ruan? Examine the crane for some dialogue, then talk to Harg just west of the loading area. That’s it, you’re all done!
Temp Librarian Plus sidequests (Zeiss)
The first book can be found at the Maple Leaf Inn in Elmo, check around the back of the fountain by the circle of stones outside the baths. You won’t be able to complete this quest until a little later, when you pick up the main quet Prof.’s Whereabouts.
For the second book, head to the Tratt Plains Road 3rd map (south from Zeiss, then east towards Wolf Fort), then take the northeast road to the 4th map. You’ll find a circle of stones here — examine the largest, central pillar for the book.
The third book is in Sanktheim Gate. Head inside, make your way up the stairs to the third floor, and the book will be inside a barrel in the corner of the small room at the top of the stairs.
What to do in Canelabrum Theft if the last line in the notebook is “No more reason in continuing this folly…”?
Cause nobody has addressed that, and I can’t go back through an autosave.
