Problems with commenting/access

I commented but it’s not showing up! — This could be due to a number of reasons. Comments generally appear right away, but since the site receives several hundred spam comments every month, I’ve employed a number of anti-spam and security measures to ensure that unwelcome posters are kept at bay. If the system has incorrectly flagged your comment as spam, it’ll probably be sent to the moderation queue where I check every week or so for any valid comments which may have been incorrectly flagged. There is also a small chance some visitors may be caught in the net of the more stringent anti-spammer measures, in which case, your comment may have been eaten entirely. I know this is inconvenient, but it’s an extremely rare occurrence and the price one must pay to avoid spam. If you believe your comment has been “eaten” by the system, drop me an email (tom@tomneko.net) and we’ll try to get things sorted out.

I can’t access the site at all! — This is most likely due to the more stringent security measures mentioned above, but I can’t offer any easy solution except on a case-by-case basis. Drop me an email and let me know the details, and I’ll find some way to work around the problem.

My spider/bot is blocked! — This could be for a number of reasons, but is most likely because it’s been blacklisted due to abusive, annoying, or resource-hungry behaviour, or because it refuses to obey the rules set out in robots.txt. The site gets a lot of spider traffic — far more than I’d like — and I’m particularly intolerant of bots that don’t follow the rules or are far too demanding of resources (requesting the same page several times in an hour, etc.) so chances are if your robot/spider is blocked, it was for a good reason.

Something else is wrong! — Let me know via email (cat@moxx.net), and I’ll get back to you ASAP.
